Do you have a price list?
All of Ben’s cakes are designed to suit your personal requirements, making it impossible to have a standard price list. The cakes in Ben’s gallery have been priced to give you an idea of cost and their portions.
When should I order my cake?
To avoid disappointment as Ben only makes two cakes per week to maintain his high standard, wedding cakes should be ordered 6-12 months in advance, especially if it is a Bank Holiday or Summer Wedding. However, this is only a guide and sometimes Ben is able to accept late bookings.
How do we decide on the design of our cake?
Ben creates a variety of traditional, vintage and chocolate wedding cakes for people who want the ultimate centerpiece. His designs range from simple stacked cakes to elaborate designs, with fresh or handmade sugar flowers. All designs can be altered and adapted to suit your requirements or be entirely your own creation. The size of the cake will be decided by the number of guests you need to feed. If your cake is going to be served as your dessert it will need to be double the size. It’s useful to bring colour samples, swatches of material and pictures with you to your consultation, He can take inspiration from anything!
How do I store my cake?
Cakes do not like being refrigerated, they are best stored in a cool dry place out of direct sunlight. After the cake has been cut it can be refrigerated or frozen to help preserve it.
What is a Cutting Cake?
If you have a large number of wedding guests, plain iced cutting cakes can be supplied to increase the number of portions and help reduce cost.
What is a Dummy tier?
If you only have a select number of guests at your wedding, but want the cake to be a centerpiece having a dummy tier creates the illusion and wastes no cake.
Can I buy sugar flowers or edible decorations from you?
Ben does not sell his sugar flowers or decorations separately from his cakes.
Do you decorate other people’s cakes?
Ben does not decorate cakes made by third parties.
Do you make celebration cakes?
As wedding cakes are booked so far in advance Ben does not have any spare time to make celebration cakes.
